Instructions

Chicago's own musical ensemble, Friko, is gearing up for the launch of their highly anticipated sophomore album. Titled 'Something Worth Waiting For,' this new collection of tracks is scheduled for release on April 24 under the ATO Records label. Alongside the album announcement, the band has revealed the visual accompaniment for one of its leading singles, 'Seven Degrees,' featuring a dynamic performance against a backdrop of miniature race cars. This forthcoming record marks a significant evolution for Friko, as they transition into a four-member group, promising a fresh sound while retaining their distinctive artistic essence.

The creation of 'Something Worth Waiting For' saw founding members Niko Kapetan and Bailey Minzenberger joined by new additions, guitarist Korgan Robb and bassist David Fuller. This expanded lineup contributes to the album's rich and multifaceted sound. The recording process took place in Los Angeles, under the expert guidance of producer John Congleton, renowned for his work with artists like Mannequin Pussy and Angel Olsen. According to Kapetan, the album's central theme revolves around the concept of constant progression and the pursuit of aspirations that always seem just out of reach, a sentiment powerfully captured in its title.

Prior to this upcoming release, Friko garnered considerable acclaim for their inaugural album, 'Where We’ve Been, Where We Go From Here,' which debuted in February 2024. The band subsequently unveiled a deluxe version of this record in November of the same year. Their growing popularity led them on extensive tours across Europe and the United Kingdom, culminating in a North American tour planned for spring 2025. Their debut album was also recognized as one of the top rock albums of 2024, further solidifying Friko's position in the contemporary music scene.

The tracklist for 'Something Worth Waiting For' includes nine distinct pieces: 'Guess,' 'Still Around,' 'Choo Choo,' 'Alice,' 'Certainty,' 'Hot Air Balloon,' 'Seven Degrees,' 'Something Worth Waiting For,' and 'Dear Bicycle.' Each track promises to deliver the band's unique blend of rock, exploring themes of transit and elusive goals. This collection represents a new chapter for Friko, showcasing their expanded musical capabilities and continued artistic growth, building on the foundation of their previous successes and critical recognition.
